Assistant

The Assistant performs a wide variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative activities that support the daily operations of the GMA/FPA. May be assigned to work in a specific department such as Scientific Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Meetings, Membership, Communications, Industry Affairs, Government Affairs, or Administration, or may be assigned to a “floater” role to fill in as needed across the Association. Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma plus 3 years of office experience OR Bachelor’s degree; must test at the Intermediate accuracy level or better on MS Office Suite of applications – Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.

Associate Scientist, Processing Technology
HR07-25

The Associate Scientist, Processing Technology provides expert knowledge to assist GMA members with process engineering information and guidance, process authority advice, and interpretation application of process engineering regulations. Will assist in the development of industry positions on process engineering regulation and new technologies exploration and will provide training on food processing protocols including HACCP. Candidates should possess these minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Food Science or a related area; advanced degree is strongly preferred.
  • Related work experience is required and should include hands-on food processing/food plant experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge base in processing technology applications, trouble-shooting, food safety and HACCP.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Interest and ability to training others one-on-one or in seminars/workshops.
  • Knowledgeable of the standard sources of information on food regulations, food safety standards, and food processing technologies including new technology development.
  • Desire to work in a team- and service-oriented environment.

Vice President, Nutrition and Health Policy
HR08-06

The Vice President, Nutrition and Health Policy will lead GMA efforts on to identify, develop and execute GMA’s strategies and programs (both national and international) and advise GMA members and staff on diet, nutrition and health issues and policy initiatives (scientific and regulatory) with the potential to impact GMA members. Functions as spokesperson and advocate for GMA positions on nutrition, health and related issues with regulatory agencies, professional societies, regional and international trade organizations and associations, and other sectors as appropriate. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Provide subject matter expertise to the scientific and technical activities of GMA related to diet, nutrition and health that will achieve GMA’s mission and strategic plan.
  • Represent GMA in leadership and supporting roles with member committees and other working groups/task forces.
  • Manage GMA’s service to members on scientific, technical and regulatory assistance requests with respect to diet, nutrition and health issues
  • Manage and conduct liaison activities with key federal and state regulatory agencies, international organizations, and scientific, technical and professional groups such as FDA, USDA, CDC, HHS, UN, NAS, ILSI, IFIC, ADA and IFT.
  • Serves as lead GMA spokesperson on diet, nutrition and health issues for media and other audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Advanced professional degree in Nutrition, Food Science or a related field; Ph.D. is strongly preferred
  • Designation as Registered Dietician is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years professional work experience in nutrition affairs/policy management is required and should include:
    • Development and interpretation of technical regulations and standards
    • Proactive work with regulatory agencies and staff to inform the regulatory policy development process
    • Management of resources, projects and people
  • Prior employment in a consumer packaged goods company is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are required.
  • Desire to work in a service- and team-oriented environment is required.
  • Ability to use computer and business applications sufficient to effectively perform the essential job functions is required.

Junior Help Desk Technician

The Junior Help Desk Technician will provide end-user support services to include: hardware and software installations in a desktop computing environment, basic applications training, and trouble-shooting assistance. Candidates should possess these minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with PC hardware, software and applications in a network environment
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Desire to work in a service- and team-oriented work environment.
