Industry Affairs Council
The Industry Affairs Council comprises GMA member company North American presidents and chief operating officers. The council sets goals and determines priorities and long-term strategy for GMA's Industry Affairs division. The mission of the council is to increase industry value through sustainable and profitable growth of brands and services. This is accomplished by 1) helping to create a growing, dynamic and efficient marketplace with broad access to consumers, thereby enabling increased consumer preference for our industry's brands, and 2) providing manufacturers, sales & marketing agencies, distributors and other trading partners with knowledge and understanding of the forces driving change in the industry.

Direct Store Delivery Committee
Comprised of leaders who deliver their products leveraging direct store delivery (DSD), the GMA Direct Store Delivery Committee focuses on emerging opportunities to drive growth, profitability and productivity for CPG companies and their retail partners through the use of the DSD distribution system.

Industry Development Team
The mission of the GMA Industry Development Team (IDT) is to improve trading partner relationships across retail channels and formats for the purpose of improving how GMA manufacturer companies serve the shopper; To serve as a liaison between GMA and its members in promoting knowledge of and participation in GMA committees, studies, conferences and other initiatives; and to build retailer engagement and participation in GMA programs to benefit member companies. Members of this committee are typically vice presidents or directors of industry affairs/trade relations of general member companies.

Information Systems Committee
The GMA Information Systems (IS) Committee strives to promote efficient marketplace practices through the use of information technology and the sharing of IT knowledge, trends and practices. It also advocates for and champions development of industry-wide best practice and standards within the information technology area, facilitates education in areas of interest to member companies and advances information technology-related initiatives in collaboration with the Industry Affairs Council and other GMA/FPA committees. The committee works to achieve its goals by conducting independent research, sponsoring educational programs, as well as organizing various discussion groups that delve deep into specific IT subjects. The IS Committee in conjunction with the Logistics and DSD Committees sponsors GMA's highly successful Information Systems and Logistics Distribution (IS/LD) Conference. Members of this committee are generally chief information officers (CIO) or high-level personnel reporting directly to the CIO.

Joint Industry Coupon Committee
The Joint Industry Coupon Committee works to increase efficiency and effectiveness in the development, distribution and redemption of coupons. This committee is comprised of individuals who oversee a company's coupon programs and may work in departments such as promotions, marketing, media services and other areas.

Join Industry Unsaleables Committee
The mission of the Joint Industry Unsaleables Committee is to reduce the quantity and costs of unsaleables across the entire supply chain to the benefit of the consumer. GMA/'s Unsaleables Steering Committee 1) investigates both internal and external root causes of unsaleables, 2) identifies key components of successful unsaleables policies and practices, 3) creates educational programs, 4) collects unsaleables data and publishes an annual benchmark survey, and 5) engages in additional activities on an ad-hoc basis. Members of this committee are the senior most executive with responsibility of overseeing a company's unsaleables, salvage, donation and reverse logistics program. They often work in the sales, supply chain or finance departments.

Vice Chair: George Thrower, Reclamation Coordinator, Harris Teeter, Inc.

Logistics Committee
The GMA Logistics Committee is comprised of logistics leaders from a broad spectrum of GMA member companies. The committee's mission is to identify emerging logistics trends in the industry with the goal of promoting increased effectiveness and efficient business practices for serving our customers and consumers. The committee will accomplish its mission by sponsoring forums for developing and sharing best practices, completing periodic assessments of emerging trends and issues, and publishing results and recommendations aimed at driving real improvement, and collaborating with customers and other industry associations to develop and implement standards and best practices. The Logistics Committee, in conjunction with the Information Systems Committee, sponsors GMA's highly successful Information System and Logistics Distribution (IS/LD) Conference. Members of this committee are generally vice presidents and director-level personnel with the ability to affect positive change within the supply chain.

Sales Agency Committees
The Sales Agency Committee is comprised of senior level agency executives from the GMA agency membership. Committee members include representatives from the three agency types (national, independent and international) to ensure all sales agency points of view are represented. The mission of the Sales Agency Committee is to be the most highly valued and effective resource for agencies and the industries they serve by:
  • Providing leadership for agencies and their trading partners
  • Advocating agencies' business interests on key issues
  • Identifying and creating new business opportunities for agencies
  • Promoting the value, role and capabilities of agencies
  • Promoting ethical and professional practices among clients, customers and agencies
  • Assisting agencies in their continuing development of effective sales, marketing and merchandising organizations
Members of this committee are generally CEO, president, COO, or executive vice president level sales agency executives.

Sales Committee
The Sales Committee is comprised of senior-level sales executives from GMA member companies. The GMA/FPA Sales Committee mission is to 1) drive profitable growth for member companies by identifying emerging sales and marketing issues with industry-wide impact and developing knowledge and capability to promote company-specific implementation and 2) foster industry-wide collaboration and understanding between member companies and their retail trading partners in all channels of trade.
