» E-Discovery and Document Retention: What to Do and What Not to Do to Avoid E-Discovery Disasters [M]
Regarding Document Retention Policies: K&L Gates advises that there is no "one size fits all." Therefore, the following presentation does not contain a best practice recommendation on Document Retention Policy. Document Retention Policies should be adapted to a company’s practices and particulars. While this usually does not involve a lot of hours of legal work, legal counsel is recommended to ask the right questions and adapt the policy accordingly.

» Video: The Principles of Damage Free Loading
Since 1999, Kraft Foods has focused cross-functional teams on improving unsaleables. One project Kraft launched recently addressed the issue of in-transit damage. A video was developed to create a visual of in-transit hazards and help make a case for change. The video identifies five principles of protecting truckloads and provides solutions for minimizing in-transit damage. Produced and copyrighted by Kraft Foods, Inc., distributed by Grocery Manufacturers of America. The video is $5 for GMA or FMI members, and $10 for others. For more information, contact Katherine Yakulis at 202-337-9400.

» B2B e-Readiness Report [PDF]
The e-readiness study - which included interviews with more than 200 executives and managers from retailer, wholesaler, broker and manufacturer organizations - is the first and largest of its kind to explore what B2B business processes were top priorities for retailers and manufacturers. The study also examined when e-commerce capabilities will be ready to implement; how companies are planning to use Internet exchanges; and where the largest opportunities exist for manufacturers and retailers to work together. A major find of the study is that CPG manufacturers and retailers must trust each other enough to share information if B2B e-commerce is to become a reality. The study also cites trading partner collaboration, data synchronization and a lack of operational experience as persistent industry challenges.

» CPFR Baseline Study Manufacturer Profile [PDF]
Working with a task force comprised of members from the GMA Logistics Committee, KJR Consulting and Syncra Systems, Inc., we have published GMA's first comprehensive report on the state of CPFR within our member companies. This report is designed for GMA member companies to obtain an understanding of the degree to which their peers are adopting CPFR and to obtain "inside" information regarding CPFR challenges, experiences and anticipated and/or realized benefits. The study's findings are encouraging. They reflect a membership committed to assessing and adopting business practices that optimize supply chain efficiency. Initial feedback from our membership has been very positive, and I expect this research will be a valuable tool as our members consider adoption of CPFR as a viable business practice.

» 2002 E-Commerce Opportunities in Direct Store Delivery [PDF]
Written by the E-Commerce Task Force, a sub-committee of the GMA DSD Committee, this white paper outlines how e-commerce opens doors for DSD manufacturers and their customers, potentially increasing profits and efficiencies across the consumer packaged goods supply chain. To explore the benefits of e-commerce for DSD companies, the task force documented the seven operational processes of DSD and suggested e-commerce possibilities to facilitate these processes. The processes include 1) customer creation/maintenance, 2) efficient assortment, 3) product and price synchronization and authorization, 4) promotional planning, 5) promotional price and item synchronization, 6) replenishment and 7) payment. For each of these processes, the task force identified e-commerce opportunities that could improve daily operational practices of DSD.
