Food Allergy

Food allergies affect an estimated six to seven million persons in the United States. Some of these sensitized consumers can develop serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if exposed to the allergenic proteins. The food industry has taken numerous steps over the past several years to address the needs of food allergic consumers, including improving labeling standards and implementing changes to manufacturing processes to reduce the potential for cross contact with major food allergens.
