Bioterrorism
GMA has a team of staff members that are responsible for food security legislative and regulatory work. The team includes:
Legislative and Regulatory Policy Contact: Mary Sophos
Regulatory Issues Contact: Mark Nelson
Legislative Issues Contact: Susan Stout
Press Contact: Stephanie Childs
The safety of the nation’s food supply has always been the highest priority of our industry. GMA and its member companies share the public’s increased concern over food security. Since the September 11 attacks the industry has been reexamining every aspect of the food security system, from raw materials to product distribution, in order to ensure that it is as strong as possible.
FDA has issued guidelines for industry to consider as they review and strengthen security measures. These guidelines are the result of a successful cooperation between business and government to share best practices throughout the food chain.
