American Council for Fitness and Nutrition
The American Council for Fitness and Nutrition (ACFN) works with partners to raise awareness of the nutrition education and physical activity programs designed to improve community health and to demonstrate the commitment of public, private and nonprofit sectors to finding effective obesity solutions.

GMA Board Statement and Guiding Principles for the Food and Beverage Industry on Diet, Physical Activity and Health.
The GMA board of directors approved a statement of commitment and guiding principles in 2003 expressing the industry's commitment to help address the problem of obesity around the world.

Industry Position Statement on School Wellness Policy
This statement details the industry's commitment to school wellness policies, focusing on general industry principles as well as nutrition education, physical activity and wellness policy, and food and beverages sold in schools.

The 2006 GMA Industry Report on Health and Wellness
The 2006 Industry Report on Health and Wellness profiles CPG industry initiatives to combat obesity and promote healthy lifestyles. Based on a health and wellness survey of GMA companies, this comprehensive report also includes information about industry initiatives to promote the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, appropriate school wellness policies and responsible marketing practices.

Weekly Reader MyPyramid Curriculum
GMA sponsored a nationwide education campaign with Weekly Reader Corporation Consumer and Custom Publishing (WRCC&CP) to promote the government's new MyPyramid to students, teachers and families. GMA and Weekly Reader distributed 58,000 posters to Weekly Reader subscribers consisting of a teacher's guide and student activities, and a bilingual parent take-home component in English and Spanish. The materials include math, nutrition and science activities. Weekly Reader estimates the education campaign reached more than 4 million students.
