Industry Position

Obesity is a serious public health issue, and food and beverage companies are committed to helping Americans live healthier lifestyles. The industry recognizes that it can help combat obesity by intensifying efforts to provide a wide range of nutritious product choices and marketing these choices in ways that promote healthy lifestyles.

An effective solution to the problem, however, requires a more comprehensive approach incorporating sound nutrition, increased physical activity, consumer and parent education, and community support. Above all, the focus should be on giving parents the information they need to ensure their children eat a nutritionally balanced diet and get the right amount of physical activity.
